This is the third and final portion of my interview with Aditya Kripalani, author of Back Seat. This is my favorite part of the interview as it offers an interesting look into inspirational authors as well as some awesome advice for other writers! Enjoy.
Q: What are some of the authors that have inspired you?
A: Ernest Hemingway for the fact that he such a romantic at heart and writes with such authority. And I absolutely love ‘For Whom the Bell Tolls’ and ‘ The Old Man and the Sea’ and ‘Death in the Afternoon’.
Q: Did you always want to be a writer?
A: When I was 17 I wanted to be an actor. Then in two years that dream was finished. Then I wanted to make films. That dies a natural death when I began writing, which was 9 years ago. And at this point I feel I want to write for life.
Q: What is the best advice you can offer an aspiring writer?
A: Don’t write for anyone other than yourself. Write what you like to read. And choose to BE a writer. Not just [to] become famous or make money. BEing a writer is about a lot more.
