As a little girl my mother, without fail, would read to me every night. I remember listening in fascinated awe to the tales from The Book of Virtues, the adventures from The Wind in the Willows, and the sweet poignancy of stories such as Charlotte’s Web. Those will always remain some of the most memorable and beloved books of my childhood.

And now for everyone who has ever been read a bedtime story, or is looking for good bedtime stories to read to a young future literary aficionado of your own, I present (drumroll please) Jasper Fforde’s Top 10 Bedtime Stories! I admit that I’ve only heard of maybe three or four of the books on the list, but they all look like they are worth checking out! :)

Playing Bingo – Murakami Style

Since I just recently finished Haruki Murakami’s novel The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, I couldn’t help but laugh when I came across this Grant Snider comic titled Haruki Murakami Bingo. I am now on my third Murakami novel and I can say with certainty that I have encountered all of the scenes illustrated in Snider’s comic in at least one of Murakami’s books. And what could be cooler than this comic? The fact that if you go to Snider’s website (http://www.incidentalcomics.com/) and scroll down you will find the “Haruki Murakami Bingo” comic translated into Japanese! I hope that Mr. Snider bestows us with more literary comics like this one in the future! :)
