I have always found Jack Kerouac’s prose to be both hauntingly beautiful as well as inspirational. In fact, my all-time favorite quote comes from what is probably considered as his most famous novel: On the Road. Unfortunately, like many brilliant artists, Kerouac died much too young after being overwhelmed by sudden fame and his own raging alcoholism. Fortunately, through the words of Joyce Johnson (a former girlfriend of Kerouac’s) we will soon get an intimate look at one of the most important parts of Kerouac’s life: from his time as a penniless author to his rise to literary fame. Sounds like a good read!
