9/11 Literature

Tomorrow will be the anniversary of not only the worst terrorist attack on USA soil, but also one of the worst terrorist attacks in the world. 9/11 is definitely an event that changed the course of world history and has had a lasting impact in many different corners of our globe. So in commemoration of this terrible event I thought I would suggest some literature that broaches this topic. Check out the following list:
  1. Windows on the World by Frederic Beigbeder
  2. Saturday by Ian McEwan
  3. The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamid
Keep in mind that these novels incorporate 9/11 in one way or another – whether it be to approach the war that followed or to focus on that terrible day. It is always interesting to note how writers deal with such sensitive issues and how readers react to them. I hope these books draw you in and make you think!
