And the Nobel Prize Goes to...

If you like keeping up to date on what is going on in the literary world, I’m sure you know that nearly two weeks ago the Nobel Prize for Literature was awarded to a Swedish poet by the name of Tomas Transtomer. Although I had never heard of this author, I still assumed that it was no doubt a brilliant and appropriate choice as he is an internationally acclaimed poet. However, the New York Review of Books just recently published this article which points out some of the possible errors in the Nobel Prize system. I myself don’t doubt the system, although I have been disappointed that favorite authors of mine such as Salman Rushdie always seem to fall short of this magnificent prize. This article is definitely good food for thought! Enjoy! :)
