The Story Behind the Sketch

Most people are familiar with this illustration of Miguel de Cervantes' endearing hero Don Quixote and his trusty side-kick Sancho Panza, but not many know the story behind the picture. The sketch was actually done by Pablo Picasso in celebration of the 350th anniversary of Don Quixote and first featured in a journal called Les Lettres Francaises. Since then, this picture has gone on to become a rather iconic representation of one of the most beloved stories in literary history. How cool is it that one of the greatest artists of all time created this in memory of one of the most well-known pieces of classic literature?  :)
