Avid readers know that it sometimes took a glass of alcohol...or two for our favorite authors to pen some of their most brilliant works. In fact, Ernest Hemingway was quite famously known for saying: "Write drunk; edit sober." - a mantra which he seemed to all too often put into practice.
When it comes to female writers, however, you don't usually hear about too many of them sporting creative drinking habits. Which is why I was pleased to discover that The Guardian has featured an article today about, you guessed it, female authors who drank!
Titled 'Every hour a glass of wine'- female writers who drank, this article is sure to offer some titillating, and surprising, revelations about which of your favorite female authors enjoyed her occasional glass of wine.
Happy reading! :)
